This isn't just a photography workshop. It's an intimate journey through one of Europe's most photogenic countries. Medieval canals at sunrise. Historic cities glowing at blue hour. Experience the culture, history and beauty of Belgium during this intimate 5-day photography workshop, limited to just six photographers. From the medieval canals of Bruges and historic waterfront of Ghent to Brussels and the magical bluebell forests of Hallerbos, every day brings something completely different to photograph.

The workshop combines landscape, architecture, street photography, traditional craftsmanship and Belgian culture. You will photograph Bruges before the city wakes, capture historic Ghent in beautiful morning light, discover traditional lace making, experience Belgian chocolate and brewing, and photograph one of Belgium's most beautiful spring landscapes.

Alongside the photography, we want you to truly experience Belgium. Taste its food, discover its traditions, meet local craftspeople and enjoy the atmosphere of some of Europe's most beautiful historic cities.

With three professional photography guides, private transportation and a group limited to only six photographers, this is designed to be a slower, more personal and immersive photography experience, with plenty of individual guidance and time to enjoy every location.

Schedule

Day 1 – Monday, 12th April

Brussels Arrival • Bruges • Welcome Dinner • Sunset & Blue Hour

Welcome to Belgium! Our guides will meet you at Brussels Airport before we travel together by private van to the beautiful medieval city of Bruges.

After checking into our centrally located hotel, there will be time to settle in and prepare before enjoying our welcome dinner together.

In the evening, we begin our first photography sessionexploring the iconic historic centre, photographing medieval architecture, canals, bridges and reflections as the evening light changes through sunset and into blue hour.

We finish surrounded by the illuminated buildings and beautiful reflections that make Bruges one of Europe's most photogenic cities.

Day 2 – Tuesday, 13th April

Bruges Sunrise • Traditional Lace • Belgian Brewery • Hidden Bruges

We begin before the city wakes, photographing a quieter and more atmospheric side of Bruges around Minnewater, the Begijnhof and its peaceful canals. Empty medieval streets, reflections, swans and soft morning light create wonderful opportunities for atmospheric photography.

After breakfast and some time to rest, we discover another side of Belgian culture with a traditional lace-making experience, photographing the hands, details, tools and craftsmanship behind one of Bruges' best-known traditions.

After lunch and some free time, we visit a traditional Belgian brewery, combining photography with the story and process of Belgian brewing before finishing, naturally, with a beer tasting.

After dinner, those who wish can join an optional evening photography session exploring the quieter streets, canals and windmills of Bruges, away from the classic postcard locations.

Day 3 – Wednesday, 14th April

Belgian Chocolate • Ghent • Culture & Evening Photography

After a relaxed breakfast, we enjoy one final special experience in Bruges with a Belgian chocolate workshop.

We photograph the process of creating traditional Belgian chocolates, from tempering and moulding to decorating beautiful pralines, before having the chance to get involved and taste some ourselves.

After lunch, we travel the short distance to Ghent, check into our hotel and enjoy some time to rest.

During the afternoon, we begin discovering this extraordinary historic city, photographing its castle, medieval streets, canals, architecture and everyday life.

After an early dinner, there will be an optional evening photography walk as Ghent's historic buildings begin to illuminate and reflect across the canals.

Day 4 – Thursday, 15th April

Ghent Sunrise • Hallerbos Bluebells • Brussels • Grand Finale

We begin early, photographing Ghent while the city is still quiet and the morning light begins to appear.

Before the busy streets fill, we photograph the famous Graslei and Korenlei waterfront, St Michael's Bridge, historic guild houses and canal reflections through the morning blue hour and sunrise.

After breakfast, we leave Ghent and travel to the beautiful Hallerbos forest, famous for its spectacular spring display of bluebells. Here we slow things down and explore woodland photography, intimate landscapes, telephoto compositions, details and creative techniques among the beech trees and carpets of blue.

We then continue to Brussels for our final afternoon, including an introduction to the city's beautiful Art Nouveau heritage.

After time to rest, we enjoy our farewell dinner together before an optional final photography session around the magnificent Grand Place, finishing our Belgian adventure with sunset, blue hour and the illuminated heart of Brussels.

Day 5 – Friday, 16th April

Breakfast • Farewell • Departure • Optional Grand Holland Extension

After breakfast, our Belgium Uncovered experience comes to an end.

Guests travelling home can depart from Brussels, while photographers continuing with us to Grand Holland enjoy a relaxed transition day before the next adventure begins.

We say goodbye to Belgium with memory cards full of medieval cities, traditional craftsmanship, spring landscapes and wonderful memories from five very special days together.

What Gear Should I Bring to My Belgium Uncovered Workshop?

Belgium Uncovered offers a wonderful variety of photography, so we recommend keeping your kit versatile and comfortable. A 24 to 70mm standard zoom is ideal for historic streets, architecture, cultural photography and everyday scenes, while a 70 to 200mm or similar telephoto lens will be particularly useful for woodland photography, details and creating layered compositions at Hallerbos.

A wide-angle lens can also be useful for Bruges, Ghent, Brussels and architectural interiors. We recommend bringing a lightweight tripod for sunrise, sunset and blue hour photography, along with extra batteries, plenty of memory cards and comfortable walking shoes.

With medieval cities, traditional crafts, Belgian culture, beautiful architecture and spring woodland all packed into five days, you'll have opportunities to use almost every lens in your bag.
