Introducing Dodge & Burn Controllers
Amount Slider
The Amount slider lets you control the overall intensity of the Dodge & Burn tool, refining the strength of the effect applied to your image.
Brush Controls
Dodge / Burn Switch
Toggle between lightening (Dodge) and darkening (Burn) effects using the Dodge & Burn switch, allowing precise adjustments to your image.
📍 Tip: Press the "X" key on your keyboard to quickly switch between Dodge and Burn modes.
Erase Switch
The Erase Brush enables you to undo or correct any accidental brush strokes, giving you full control over your adjustments.
Size Slider
Adjust the Size slider to change the brush size, making it easy to work on both intricate details and larger areas.
📍 Tip: Use the "[ ]" bracket keys to swiftly adjust brush size on the go.
Softness Slider
The Softness slider controls the feathering of the brush’s edges, allowing for a smoother, more natural blend between lightened and darkened areas.
📍 Tip: Hold Shift while using the "[ ]" bracket keys to fine-tune the softness of the brush edge.
Strength Slider
This slider manages the intensity of each brush stroke, helping you control how strongly the lightening or darkening effect is applied to your image.
Getting Started with the Dodge & Burn Tool
- Select your project in the Project Manager and double-click to open it in the Editing module.
- Choose the image you want to edit from the Film Strip at the bottom of the application.

Click the Dodge & Burn icon in the top-left corner of the screen to open the tool.
- Choose between the Dodge (Lighten) or Burn (Darken) brush to start editing.
- Use the Brush Size slider to fine-tune the size of your brush for precise control. You can also quickly adjust brush size with the "[ ]" bracket keys.
- Use the Softness slider to create a gradual transition between the effect and the original image. For fast adjustments, press "Shift + [ ] to modify the brush hardness.

Adjust the Strength slider to set how strong the lightening or darkening effect will be.
- Click and paint directly on your image to apply the Dodge & Burn effects.
- If you make a mistake, select the Erase tool to remove any unwanted strokes.
- Use the Amount slider to adjust the global intensity of the Dodge & Burn effect and blend it seamlessly with the original image.
