Getting started with GenErase

  1. Open Luminar NEO and select the photo you wish to edit from the Catalog. Then, click on GenErase on the right side of your screen.
  2. To erase an element, first adjust the brush size and select the area you wish to erase. It's recommended to choose a slightly larger area than just the element you want to remove. This will help the software recognize the surrounding area of the element, making it easier to replace. The selection doesn't need to be precise. If you want to undo the selection, use the "Deselect" controller.
  3. Click on the Erase button to start the element replacement. You can repeatedly select the erase button to explore different outcomes, fine-tuning your edits until you achieve the desired result.
  4. Use the GenErase tool on one element at a time to get a better resolution.
  5. The time taken for the replacement process will depend on the size of the selected area, the speed of your Internet connection, and the current workload of the cloud server. Typically, it takes around 20 to 90 seconds to complete the replacement process.
  6. You can click on the Eye icon to see the Before and After effect. Use the Undo and Redo arrows to delete or reapply the effect.
  7. Once satisfied with the results, click Save at the top of your screen. The application will then generate a new image that will be saved in the Generative Creations folder.
  8. From here, you can move your image to the Edit module to continue your edits.

Luminar NEO

Luminar Neo is the latest editing software from Skylum. It was announced back in September 2021 and has been highly anticipated.

Luminar Neo is an AI-powered photo editing software. Skylum has said that Neo isn't replacing their previous release—Luminar AI. But Neo sets out to fix some of the issues users faced with Luminar AI.

We were impressed with the AI tools in Luminar AI. But like many others, we encountered performance issues. Luminar Neo uses the same AI tools, but the new high-speed core engine improves speed and performance.

Luminar Neo isn't just more of the same. We're happy to see Skylum has taken Neo in a different direction, adding layer and mask AI tools to the program. This broadens Neo's appeal, taking it in an Adobe Photoshop direction.
