What is Noiseless AI

Noiseless AI, introduced in 2022 as an extension of Luminar NEO, represents the cutting edge of AI-driven denoising technology. This sophisticated tool is engineered to effectively reduce both luminance and chroma noise from your images, resulting in pictures of impeccable clarity and visual allure.

Driven by intelligent algorithms, Noiseless AI takes the guesswork out of noise reduction. It assesses the noise levels in your images and offers you a choice of three presets—low, medium, or high—ensuring a swift and efficient noise reduction process that spans the entire image. For those who crave precise control, manual adjustments are at your fingertips, with sliders for Noise Reduction, Color Noise Reduction, Recovery of original details, and Sharpness. This helps you strike the perfect balance between noise reduction, detail preservation, and image sharpness.

But the flexibility of Noiseless AI doesn't stop there. It seamlessly integrates with Luminar NEO, and can be used with the plug-in version for Photoshop and Lightroom. While Noiseless AI can work its magic on a range of file formats supported by Luminar NEO, RAW files remain the gold standard for achieving the most exceptional results.

How to get Noiseless AI

Noiseless AI is a professional paid extension for Luminar NEO. Currently, there are three ways to get it:

How to install Noiseless AI

Once you purchase or acquire the Noiseless AI extension from the Skylum website, you will have to install it into your application from the "Extensions" panel following the steps below.

TIP 👍: To install the extension into your software, it is necessary to have an active internet connection. It is also essential to ensure you are running the latest version of Luminar NEO before installing the extension into your application.

1. Open Luminar NEO and log in with the same profile you used for obtaining the extension.
2. Click on the "Extras" orange button in the top right corner of the application. 
3. Once the new window opens, select the "Extensions" tab at the top.
4. Locate the Noiseless AI extension in the available list and click the "Install" button on it to add it to the application.
5. Access the extensions in the "Extensions" tab of the main toolbar in the Edit module.

Introducing Noiseless AI Sliders

Noiseless AI Settings 

The noise reduction tool provides advice on the best adjustments to use for natural-looking results. This advice is based on several factors, including the amount of noise and ISO levels. You can choose from three preset options: low, middle, or high, depending on the level of noise reduction you want. The tool reduces both luminance and color noise simultaneously. Once you select a preset, the application scans the image and applies the noise reduction. You can then view the results at 100% zoom to see the level of noise reduction and any remaining noise in the image.

Luminosity Denoise

Use this slider to add or remove the luminance noise reduction on your photo. Moving the slider to the right adds noise reduction, and moving it to the left removes the noise reduction.

Color Noise Reduction

This slider is here to remove the color noise of the image. It works on the same basis as the luminance slider. By shifting the slider to the right, you can add noise reduction, and by shifting it to the left, you can remove it.

Details

This slider helps to bring back some of the original details without re-introducing the noise. Pushing it to the right, you will recover some of the details. Moving it to the left removes some of the recovery of the original details, however, it applies more noise reduction.

Sharpness

This slider adds sharpness to the image. It does not consider the noise reduction and will bring back some noise at some point of the adjustment. This slider works on the same basis as the Sharpening in the Detail tool and Develop tool.

Getting started with Noiseless AI

Noiseless AI is a development tool, so we recommend using it at the beginning of your photo-editing process.

1. Open your image and select the Edit Module.
2. Open Noiseless RAW (or Noiseless AI) in the Extensions section (left toolbar). If you are using a RAW file, the extension will be named Noiseless RAW; if you use another file format, the extension will be called Noiseless AI.
3. First, the tool gives you advice on what type of noise reduction adjustments you should use for the most natural result. The advice is based on a combination of factors, including the amount of noise, ISO level, etc. Depending on the result you wish, you can choose the preset that you wish: Low, Middle or High. Each of these buttons will apply a certain amount of noise reduction following the AI assessment of your image. The extension will reduce both luminance and color noise at the same time. Once you click on the chosen the presets, the application scans the image and applies the noise reduction. It then zooms to 100% so you can see the noise reduction and the level of noise on your image.
4. Depending on the result, you could be finished now or you could continue to adjust the noise reduction with the four sliders. If you decide to use the adjustment sliders, you will be looking for a good balance between the noise reduction and the details to make sure that the image looks as natural as possible. 
5. When you are done with the Noiseless RAW adjustments and wish to continue your edit, click on top of the tool to close it. If you need to adjust it again, you will find it in the Edits section with the Develop RAW tool.
6. After closing Noiseless RAW, zoom out and continue your edit with other Luminar NEO tools.
7. Once you apply another edit, you will see the Noiseless RAW became Noiseless AI. When you open Noiseless AI, you can now add some masking using the Brush, Linear Gradient, Radial Gradient or Mask AI.

Luminar NEO

Luminar Neo is the latest editing software from Skylum. It was announced back in September 2021 and has been highly anticipated.

Luminar Neo is an AI-powered photo editing software. Skylum has said that Neo isn't replacing their previous release—Luminar AI. But Neo sets out to fix some of the issues users faced with Luminar AI.
