What is the Skin AI Tool

The Skin AI tool is part of the Portrait tools available in Luminar NEO software. This tool scans your image and can automatically enhance and retouch a person's skin while giving you complete control over the content-aware adjustments applied. The Skin AI tool can eliminate various skin imperfections, including acne, freckles, and moles. It can also smooth the skin while ensuring that small details like hair and eyelashes are sharp.

Introducing Skin AI Tool sliders

Amount

This slider smooths the skin and removes unwanted variations while preserving texture and detail.

Shine Removal

Excessive shine on the forehead or cheeks ruins an otherwise perfect photo. The Shine Removal tool generates realistic-looking skin to restore patches of the face that were washed out by excessive light. This slider adjusts the intensity of the Shine Removal effect.

Skin Defects Removal AI

Select this checkbox to remove skin defects in a portrait automatically.

Getting started with Skin AI Tool

1. Open your image and move it into the Edit module (E).
2. Open the Skin AI tool located in the Portrait section.
3. Push the amount slider to 100 to see the result the tool can give. Then, adjust it to your liking, bearing in mind that you want to keep a natural look.
4. Use the Shine Removal slider to minimise the shine of your subject.
5. Select the Skin Defects Removal AI tool to fine-tune the removal of skin imperfections.
6. If you need further skin adjustment, feel free to use the Erase tool (click here to read the blog).
7. If the SkinAI tool removes details you’d like to preserve, use the Edit Mask tool to paint them back in.
8. At any time during the edit, click on the Eye icon to see the before and after results.
